Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health
REGIONAL ACTIVITIES The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health undertakes regional activities in the areas of Southern, Central, Eastern and Western Finland. Regional offices are situated in Helsinki, Joensuu, Oulu and Seinäjoki. Also, a Service Coordinator has taken up work in Kuusankoski as part of the Joint Venture on Social and Health Services of the Federation and communes. Regional development work is performed in cooperation with non-governmental organizations, communes, private sector enterprises and regional government administrators. The focus point of regional work is capacity building of NGOs, enhancement of peoples’ participation, and advocacy work to take into account welfare aspects alongside economic considerations in local decision making. The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health organizes training activities, forums and work meetings for organizations’ representatives, public officials and local citizens in different parts of Finland. The Regional Development Managers of the Federation also conduct many networking activities to enhance collaboration between various local and regional actors in the social and health sector. Additionally, the Regional Development Managers represent member NGOs in various local and regional work groups, teams and forums.
