Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health
 INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health conducts networking activities with many international actors. Close cooperation on an international scale is performed, among others, with the International Council on Social Welfare ICSW, the European Round Table of Charitable Associations ETWelfare, the European Antipoverty Network EAPN and the European Council for Voluntary Organisations CEDAG. The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health has long-standing experience on advocacy work within the European Union. Currently, the Federation represents Finnish Non-Governmental Organizations in the Platform of European Social NGOs, which has a consultative status towards the European Commission. EAPN also is a member of the Platform. ICSW International Council for Social Welfare The International Council for Social Welfare (ICSW) is a global umbrella organization for various national and international organizations striving to promote social welfare, justice and development and accordingly works towards social and economic development that will reduce poverty and deprivation in the world. ICSW has a consultative status towards the United Nations. The Finnish ICSW Committee The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health, by means of the Finnish ICSW Committee, represents Finnish Non-Governmental Organizations at the International Council for Social Welfare ICSW. The Committee is appointed by the Board of the Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health for a tri-annual term. It serves as a platform for organizations, officials, research, education and insurance establishments operating within the field of social welfare. The Committee promotes international advocacy work on social policy and welfare by emphasizing the importance of developing relationships between ICSW member organizations globally both on a North-South and an East-West-scale, as well as between the ICSW and the decision-makers in the European Union. Development Project in Tanzania Currently, the main activities of the Finnish ICSW committee are the supervision of a project of international development cooperation in Tanzania. Cooperating partners in the project are the Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health (STKL) and its sister organization in Tanzania, the Tanzania Council for Social Welfare (TACOSODE); further partners are ICSW and the University of Jyväskylä. Seminar on International Social Policy Issues The ICSW committee also organizes twice-annual seminars on International Social Policy issues. 17.3.2010 16.11.2010
