THE THIRD SECTOR IN FINLAND

The Finnish Federation for Social Welfare and Health in co-operation with the University of Lapland has published a book introducing the Finnish third sector. The book called The Third Sector in Finland contains comprehensive articles written by the famous third sector researchers in Finland. The book is the first and largest debate on the Finnish NGO-sector written in english and it will be available in July.

There are themes like:

    The study builds a conceptual framework of phenomena mutual support and voluntary action. It describes how self-help groups and volunteering are organised, what kinds of tasks are performed, by whom and for whom. In addition, mutual support and voluntary action are located in the Finnish society according to their relation to other sectors (public sector, market sector, and households).
